Another big part of what HUG stands for is not just breaking the status quo because it's monotonous and stagnant, but breaking it because it's a negative path for humanity to take. One destructive concept humanity all over the world has blindly accepted for millennia is bureaucracy, or the idea that certain humans deserve to rule over others. We accept this without question in government, business, family and every other organization within society. We subconsciously assume it's that or anarchy. The concept of working together on equal terms isn't even something we consider.
This doesn't mean I don't have more responsibility and authority than others when it comes to HUG at the moment, because I do; I started it and currently am the only one who runs it. I don't want it to stay this way however. If HUG progresses, it will largely be by allowing participants to have their say, not just at meetings but in how the organization is run. I cannot in good faith just hand it over in it's infancy, but I'm more than open to suggestions. An online group journal or blog where anyone can post may be helpful to start. Also, if you ever have something to say, tell me and or the group.
The point of all this is that HUG should be chock full of leaders. The only thing that stops any of us being leaders is if we're willing to do it. This group is set to encourage people to guide themselves to better internal leadership if you will. I know first hand that internal growth naturally leads to external growth.
The two core values of this group - Individual recognition and communal teamwork - make it difficult to get others on board in any capacity. I believe both of those are all important for human progress, but they're also contradictory to how the vast majority of people have lived so far, so I'm realistic about how incredibly challenging it will be for this one nearly resource-less guy. I don't just want all the help I can get, I need it.
